The new range is divided into two groups, the Alupulse Pro 210, Alupulse Pro 250 and Alupulse Pro 315. These machines have high bandwidth AC/DC Tig welding, Pulsing, AC + DC Hybrid Wave, VRD and much more. The variant to the Pro series is the Elite range that features a Pilot Arc Plasma Cutter also. These machines are known as the Elite 215 and Elite 256 that contain a 50 and 60 amp plasma cutter respectively and are classed in the category AC DC Tig Welders.

The scent of welding fumes, engine oil, engine exhaust and other manly activities can often be found in Ted’s shed but more so as the time for the Kidney Kar Rally draws near.

This year the Kidney Kar Rally is  from Gundagai to Cootamundra via Mt Gambier and is being run  between August 15 and 23rd.  Ted has entered Kar 333 and we are mustering support for his team. The Kidney Kar Rally raises money for Kidney Health Australia’s Kidney Kids Programs which allow children and their families living with and affected by kidney disease to enjoy fun filled days of camps and activities whilst still receiving the necessary medical care.

Tig Torch Assembly

When it comes to Tig Torch Assembly one of the greatest areas for causing problems is incorrect torch assembly on the Tig welding equipment. To make it easy we have attached an images detailing the tig torch assembly order.

1. The collet holder screws onto the tig torch from the direction of the white insulator cup.

2. The pink ceramic screws over the collet holder.

3. The tig tungsten electrode is inserted into the tig torch collet.

4. The tig collet is inserted into the collet holder from the back of the torch and allowed to protrude beyond the pink ceramic by around 2 or 3 times it’s diameter.

5. The long tig torch back cap is then placed over the tungsten and tightened lightly to lock the tig tungsten into place.

 

That’s it. Now you know the technique for correct tig torch assembly.

We are often asked about the upslope setting on a Tig welder, how does it work and what is it used for. Upslope is a control that allows the amperage to rise (slope up) over the period of time set for this setting.

For example if you had set 5 seconds with an amperage of 120 Amps upon triggering the tig torch trigger the weld current would initially ignite at the minimum crater value and then increase gradually over the 5 second time period. If your drew a graph of amperage on the Y axis and time on the X axis you would see a line sloping up hence the name “Up Slope”
